Pressure Control for Throttleable Ducted Rockets

Adaptive pressure control resistant to time delay, experimentally validated · Roketsan, Inc. (2014–2017)

This project, conducted in collaboration with Roketsan, Inc., focused on pressure control of gas generators in throttleable ducted rockets. The main challenge was significant and uncertain time delays in the system, which cause instability in classical controllers. We designed a time-delay resistant adaptive control approach and validated it through experiments.

Key contributions:

  • Designed a delay-resistant composite model reference adaptive controller (CMRAC)
  • Validated the approach in hardware experiments on a cold-air testing plant
  • Results published in IEEE Control Systems Magazine
